Yeah Yeah Yeahs

On Sunday, my brother Ben and I went to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs concert at In The Venue in Salt Lake City. We stood out in the rain playing Cash Cab on my phone for about half an hour before the doors opened. Ben happily got frisked down, we entered the venue and made our way up to the balcony to have ourselves a pint of Blue Moon on tap to wait for the show. After the opening band YACHT, who were very...interesting, and an hour or more of tuning instruments and sound testing the Yeah Yeah Yeahs finally came on stage. With an amazing stage presence and fantastic music it was one of the better shows I have gotten to see live. Karen O's outfits are always outrageous and fun, while her band mates, guitarist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase, looked and played amazing in their all black attire. So we enjoyed the show on the upper balcony away from the shooving crowd, the crowd surfers and passing out people from dehydration. We did have some annoying girls pushing us a bit from behind and some very hot lesbians beside us. But over all we had so much fun! I hope everybody gets to hear them live because they are amazing! Here is a bad version of a video and a picture I took with my phone, I didn't bring my camera :(

Another Friday

I am bored at work with nothing to do but look at clothes online or write a short story, which Meaghan has advised me to do. But all I can do is sit and wait for the clock to say 4:30 so that I might be able to pack up my grapes and water bottle and make the drive home listening to my new book on disc, Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. 4 months in three different cities: Italy, India and Indonesia, her search for everything. Its become my daily routine to and from work listening to her calming voice tell the amazing stories and glimpses into her personal life. But no, my weekend has not officially started so I will waste my last 2 hours listening to the Amelie soundtrack, thinking of eating delicious crème brûlée, which I tried for the first time in Monterey and absolutely fell in love with. Its climbing the charts on my dessert list, right at the top after tiramisu. So after writing this blog, its now almost 3:00 so I shall finish my work, order some much needed jeans offline and I will be headed home to, hopefully, an eventful and relaxing weekend...till Monday! Au Revoir

Fall Essentials

Its Fall, yet again, with the changing leaves and brisk autumn air just around the corner, we need to be well prepared for the months ahead. Before we all get too caught up in school work and popping the cold medicine, I decided to make my list of Fall Essentials for 2009.

Coat: Probably the most important item to keep the colds away. From across the pond I chose my number one fall must have from ASOS, their Funnel Neck Pleated Swing Coat. A wool-mix loose fitted coat with double breasted thick black buttons is perfect for the British fog or the Utah snow.

Boots: You can't go through the fall without a good pair of boots and I've spotted the perfect pair for any fall outfit. Urban outfitters suede studded boot in chocolate brown.

Movie: Coco Before Chanel - Coco Before Chanel is the story of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, who began her life as headstrong orphan, and through an extraordinary journey became the legendary couturier who embodied the modern woman and became a timeless symbol of success, freedom and style. The film portrays the formative years of Chanel's life, the years of Chanel spent discovering and inventing herself (rottentomatoes.com).

Recipe:
Vegan Pumpkin Cheesecake
  • 12 oz. firm silken tofu, pureed
  • 8 oz. non dairy cream cheese (try Tofutti brand at Tofutti.com)
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. grounded ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 prepared graham cracker crust
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Puree all the ingredients except the pie crust in a food processor and pour into the graham cracker crust. Bake at 350 F for 50 minutes. Allow to cool for 30 minutes.

Handbag: From Anthropologie. Slouchy, roomy, seamed and soft, this cocoa leather bag leaves nothing to be desired. Ladies and gentlemen, the Covetous shoulder bag.

Activities: Who can resist the best fall activities of all fall activities. The leaves! Walking or collecting, or my favourite, gathering them up into a pile and jumping in!

Drink: Compliments of Starbucks, for a limited time only, their Pumpkin Spice Latte. A delicious blend of pumpkin and fall spices, made with espresso and topped with whip cream.

Book: Dan Brown, The Lost Symbol. Robert Langdon is at it again, but this time in America, following the Masonics. Release date is September 15th, 2009.

Excitedness For Season Trois

Here are some fun pictures to keep everyone excited for Season 3 of Gossip Girl starting September 14th.

Yes, Gossip Girl Again

True, its my 2nd Gossip Girl post in the last 2 weeks but who can blame me when its too juicy not to share. Finally Season 2 has ended for me. So here goes the next 9 days, 21 hours, 18 minutes and 45 seconds, 44 seconds, 43 seconds...well you get the idea, till Season 3 starts. But as always Gossip Girl left us on a cliff hanger episode...Gossip Girl decides to liven things up at the Constance Billard and St. Jude's graduation by sending out a shocking and damaging email blast in the midst of the commencement ceremony, stirring Serena to come up with a plan of attack. The Mean Girls; Nelly, Isabel, Penelope, etc, challenge Jenny to throw her hat in the ring to succeed Blair as Queen Bee next year. Meanwhile, Lily and Rufus finally makes amends meet and get engaged and move in together. With Blair's blessing, Jenny becomes the new queen. Chuck finally admits his love to Blair and the two reconcile. As the summer draws near, Nate decides to go on the backpacking trip with Vanessa. Georgina returns to town having recovered/re-stole all of Dan's money, and she also requests Blair for a roommate at NYU. Carter Baizen also shows up and reveals to Serena where her biological father is. In the end, Serena is going to Brown, Blair, Dan, Vanessa, and Georgina are going to NYU, and Nate is going uptown to Columbia, and Lily and Rufus' illegitimate son, Scott, inconspicuously arrives in town for college and to shadow Dan. (thanks imdb.com) And finally Chuck says I love you, not to Serena or Nate but Blair herself. So thats the just of it. Crazy I know. Cannot wait till Season 3, so here's to waiting!

Lookout Upper Eastsiders Gossip Girl Has One More Victim...XOXO

Yes its true, Gossip Girl is my new favourite show. After borrowing season 1 from the library I was hooked. As a die hard O.C. fan I was skeptical about the new teen drama East Coasters style. The New York City streets and all the beautiful clothes they wear kept me watching more, but in the end Chuck and Blair is what ultimately won me over. Oh their dynamics and wonderful stubbornness, off and on again romance and sexual tension...sigh. Season 3 is almost ready to start and me, being some what behind, still has to catch up. Good thing the birthday gift cards payed for season 2 or all would be lost. After almost 2 weeks of Gossip Girl watching, its happened, finally its happened...I cried at my first episode. Season 2, Episode 14 to be exact, "In The Realm of the Basses"...With Chuck MIA since his father's funeral, Uncle Jack arrives on the Upper East Side to help Chuck pick up the messy pieces, but first he has to find him. Trying her best to forget her last painful exchange with Chuck, Blair focuses her attention on being accepted into the most prestigious ladies club in the city, Colony Club, only to realize you never really leave high school behind. She finds her self back in Chuck's arms trying to help him pick up the pieces after his fathers death. Only once again its a Chuck and Blair off and on again romance. So one has to go and mess things up, no ones pointing fingers but were all whispering Chuck...so sad. But now all we can do is wait and see what happens. Oh and the moment I cried at was when Chuck comes into Blair's room, after her mother's wedding, completely broken. She hold him as he cries and the scene fades to black...many tears shed. Also another plus of Gossip Girl is Blair Waldorf's style. I love it, sophisticated and a bit Audrey Hepburn. Every outfit is to die for! So I cannot wait to finish Season 2 and watch Season 3. Till then. Adieu

500 Days I Didn't Want To End

On Monday night around 9:55 I saw a movie that changed my life...kinda. No it just made me want to buy it when it comes out on dvd. 500 Days of Summer was hilarious, heart warming, and made me want to look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt for another hour. The best thing about it was the real to life moments, the IKEA scene and when they were laying in bed talking about different dreams they have had. Over all, amazing movie, really made me look back on my own life. So go see it. Also the soundtrack is a must buy.

Season 5 SYTYCD

Yes it’s that time again for the amazing summer show to take over...So You Think You Can Dance! This season has been the usual, amazingly talented dancers, fantastic choreography. Its down to the top 12 this week and were all hoping for the best, our favourites to succeed and the ones who annoy us to leave…Ade/Melissa and Phillip/Jeanine to name a few…but next week can only tell us the fun styles and dances they will get to perform. One of my favourite couples, well favourite dancer has to be Kayla Radomski and Kupono Aweau. Kayla is an amazing dancer and I hope to see her win! From week one to last week she has been consistently amazing! I hope to see here everyweek from now on. And all the dances she is in are so fun to watch! I like a few other dancers as well such as Caitlin, Evan, Kupono and Randi. The rest can leave...Well check out SYTYCD on youtube.com or at Fox.com and watch all the dances if you need to catch up and keep on watching!
